How to read the map
Every player in the ATP or WTA top 100 is a bubble. The area of the bubble is their ranking points, so the biggest bubbles are the players at the top of the tour. The colour is how those points changed over the range you pick: green means the player gained points, red means they lost them, grey means no change.
Colour intensity is scaled to the 90th percentile of the week's moves, so a quiet week still shows contrast instead of a flat map. When fewer than 60% of the shown players have history for a range, that range is disabled rather than painted grey — a grey map should mean nothing moved, not that the data is missing.

Common questions
- Where does the ranking data come from?
- From ESPN's public tennis endpoints, refreshed every 15 minutes. The rankings themselves are published weekly by the ATP and the WTA, and are frozen during Grand Slam fortnights.
- What does live mode show during a Grand Slam?
- Bubble size becomes the points the player would finish the tournament on, and colour is the net change: the points already secured by the round they have reached, minus the points they are defending from last year's edition. A defending champion can therefore show red while still winning matches, because last year's points expire either way.
- How many points does each Grand Slam round award?
- By round reached, ATP awards 10, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1300 and 2000 points from first round to champion. WTA awards 10, 70, 130, 240, 430, 780, 1300 and 2000.
